A world of dreams
Back in 1985, Video Horizons first put out its shingle. The cost of setting up was expensive. Equipment purchases being the worst. To create a simple effect, like a dissolve - a fade between two video sources - cost around $10,000 to do. So you could imagine the cost to produce 2D effects. At the time there was nothing like it on the domestic market.
Today's technology has changed the way in which we can now create things. The domestic cameras manufactured today, for around several hundred dollars, produce better, sharper, cleaner pictures than in the 80's & 90's. To create effects, costs next to nothing. The computer generation has enabled an affordable approach for anyone to make their own simple hollywood style movies at a cost that is within a reachable price range.
To simply make a movie or short film will cost money. That depends upon what you require. For example, you may simply need actors, or other equipment costs, etc. So what you thought may cost a few hundred dollars, could cost lots more. So your dream of becoming rich and famous, or Australia's next top talent.. dashed.. before you start. Sometimes that could be a good place to be. Because fame and fortune isn't necessarily the answer, pride and ego can sometimes be counter productive and competitive. As individuals, we recognise a gift or talent in each of us that is different. That is one attribute that makes us unique and significant, isn't it?
We are looking toward the future - to dream the impossible is hopeful, to achieve it takes people, time, effort and money.
